About Penny's From Heaven
We opened our beautiful store in 1997 in Lake Forest, Illinois. After the birth of my daughter, Penelope, I quickly discovered the absence of a charming children’s store… one that felt magical, “heavenly”. I envisioned an enchanting store where each little thing was more beautiful than the next. A place that celebrated babies and children. So with the help of my sister, Toni, we created Penny’s From Heaven. My daughter, truly a blessing, and our late mother, our angel, were our inspiration... both named Penny, it was only fitting that my dream be named in their honor and memory.
Together we built a store that brings smiles to the faces of everyone that enters. We have had customers from all over the world visit us and remark what a perfectly lovely store it is, unlike any other they have ever seen. It is a store that delights both young and old. It was natural for us to desire beautiful wooden toys, Steiff animals, and the best in children’s literature, as this is what we knew as children, our mother made certain of it. Where quality and craftsmanship is held in the highest priority. It is here where one will find the best in European and American designs, classic and traditional clothing, though often with an edge, more fun than predictable. Ideally, I would be able to offer each of you the experience of walking through our store… since this is not possible we have tried to translate our brick and mortar setting into our cyber setting… we hope you enjoy shopping with us.
Today, nine years later, I still feel a burst of happiness each day as I enter my little slice of heaven. Penny’s influence can be found throughout our store and I continue to find inspiration in my nieces and nephews. Though Toni is now a mother to Henry, Amelia and Tally, and long gone from the daily operations, she occasionally accompanies me on my buying trips, for which I am grateful. While speaking of gratitude, I must also extend my heartfelt thanks to Hillary, Patti, and Megan, who continue to share my vision. They are truly the best. And to Regan and Reese, the girls that made this website a reality… FINALLY!!
